(All Times Eastern) – Ah, July 4th. The ultimate summer holiday. Picnics, friends, family, vacation days, fireworks…and then it’s over.  Or is it?  You don’t have to look any further than your video screen to see a spectacular display of great cable programming to watch. So let’s take a look at some of the upcoming shows to look for this July.

To start, summer wouldn’t be summer without Shark Week on Discovery.  And this year is the 30th anniversary for television’s longest-running and perhaps most anticipated summer event. Shark Week 2018 celebrates this milestone with all-new jaw-dropping shark stories that take viewers to unexplored locations while offering extensive insights into the mysterious world of sharks. Tune in all week beginning Sunday, July 22 at 8:00 pm.

On BET, we find the return of Hit the Floor on Tuesday, July 10 at 10:00 pm.  This scripted drama explores the fame, money, power, and sex in professional basketball through the eyes of the LA Devil Girls dancers and the LA Devils basketball team.  You can also watch 16 entrepreneurs from all walks of life as they compete for a $100K prize and the opportunity to become a part of T.I.’s Grand Hustle team on The Grand Hustle premiering Thursday, July 19 at 10:00 pm.

Bravo brings us reality programming with more, “watch me make a fool of myself, stab you in the back, and profess my undying commitment to you,” episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County. The ladies return On Monday, July 16 at 9:00 pm and are followed by Southern Charm Savannah at 10:00 pm. From trips to sunny Turks and Caicos to a wintery New York City, relationships will be tested and not all will weather the storm.

Over on the Cooking Channel, tease your taste buds on Tuesday, July 3 at 9:00 pm when Michael Symon takes a summer road trip to taste a variety of American classics: burgers and BBQ. And the best way to wash it all down is with local beers and brews.  It’s clear why this show is called Burgers, Brew and ‘Que.

Tim Kennedy is one tough guy-- an active, Ranger qualified, Green Beret, and Special Forces Sniper who has served tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the globe. He is also a top five professional MMA fighter with grit and dedication to the values of hard work and humility. Now he's ready to tackle some of the toughest jobs by risking life and limb to highlight the unsung heroes of the American workforce.  Hard to Kill is an all-new series premiering Friday, July 31 at 10:00 pm on Discovery Channel.

ESPN brings us some summer sports to follow. The NBA Summer League kicks off on July 6 and runs through July 17.  Check the schedule for listings of games.  Some of the games will appear on NBA TV.  Then the Summer X Games returns to the screen and is broadcast from Minneapolis between July 19 and July 22.

On Food Network we’ve got a new season of mind-boggling, edible masterpieces on Ridiculous Cakes premiering Monday, July 9th at 10:00 pm. The Great Food Truck Race premieres a new season on Wednesday, July 25 at 9:00 pm where food truck chefs compete to win their own brand new food truck. And on July 31 at 9:00 pm you can watch some great southern chefs compete in the unique, “use the ingredients in this basket,” challenges in Chopped Grill Masters.

FX cocaine drama Snowfall returns for season two on Thursday, July 19 at 10:00 pm, showing the perils of drug dealing success circa1984.

The darlings of HGTV, Drew and Jonathan Scott return on Wednesday, July 11 at 9:00 pm with Property Brothers: Buying and Selling. In this show, they help homeowners sell their current home and buy a new property.

On Sunday, July 8, History kicks off a three-hour special as American professional motorsports icon Travis Pastrana honors legendary daredevil Evel Knievel by attempting three of his most dangerous feats in Las Vegas, Nevada in one night, all while riding a modern day re-creation inspired by the motorcycle Knievel used. These feats include: breaking Knievel's record jump over 50 cars, another record-breaking jump over 14 full-size buses, and aiming to make history as the first person to successfully jump the Caesar's Palace fountain.  Don’t miss the must-see special of the summer, Evel Live, starting at 8:00 pm. This also serves as the kick-off to Car Week on History.

Four couples embark on an emotionally difficult journey to help repair their relationships by participating in an extreme, innovative experiment of switch therapy. Find out what this is all about and see the results in Seven Year Switch on Tuesday, July 17 at 10:00 pm from Lifetime.

If you have active children who like sports, perhaps you’ll want to sit down with them on Sunday, July 22 at 8:00 pm to watch the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards. It’s a kid-voted event where children pick winners of various sports categories. Houston Rockets’ point guard Chris Paul hosts.

Syfy brings two of their hits back to the screen Friday, July 20 with the return of Wynonna Earp at 9:00 pm and Killjoys at 10:00 pm.  In Wynonna Earp, Wyatt Earp's great granddaughter battles demons and other creatures with her unique abilities and a posse of dysfunctional allies, bringing the paranormal to justice.  Killjoys is about a fun-loving, hard-living trio of interplanetary bounty hunters who chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multi-planetary class war.

TLC breaks out the baby cuteness on Tuesday, July 10 with Outdaughtered at 9:00 pm.  America's first and favorite all-female quintuplets grow from babies to big girls. With big-girl beds, potty training and pre-school separation looming, Danielle and Adam must manage the moods, mayhem, and magic that is life in the Busby house! Following that at 10:00 pm is Rattled. Follow five couples as they experience the challenges and joys of new parenthood. Rattled examines how baby changes everything, regardless of circumstances.  On second thought, maybe that baby cuteness thing is overrated?

If you are stuck at home this July with no vacation plans, Andrew Zimmern will travel for you. Andrew crisscrosses the globe in search of the most bizarre foods, since he believes that the best way to explore other cultures is by sharing food, no matter how strange it is. Catch the premiere of Bizarre Foods on Travel Channel on Tuesday, July 3 at 9:00 pm.

USA network jumps into the reality genre this month with The Miz & Mrs, a docuseries chronicling the lives of WWE Superstars and married couple The Miz and Maryse. The series, premiering Tuesday, July 24 at 10:00 pm, will follow the larger-than-life pair as they become first time parents.

More opportunities may be available this July as new premieres are announced. Check with your Account Executive to discover other shows that may be a good fit to reach your customers.

On to the world of sports where leagues like Major League baseball are in full swing, pun intended.

And check with your Account Executive who can help you find local games on Regional Sports Networks in which to advertise as well.
