  • 5 Tips on Getting Video Advertising Right

    Submitted by Sakshi Thinda

    Feb 22, 2017 - 08:50

People who know I work in the advertising business often ask what makes for a successful campaign and what it really takes to create an effective television ad. Here are five easy steps you can take to make sure you can convey your message with instant credibility. 1. Keep Your Message Focused Define your purpose of advertising, what problems are you trying to solve, and what a successful campaign would look like. Be specific and focus on one issue instead of trying to resolve multiple.

  • March Brings an Opportunity for Marketers to Score Points with Basketball Fans

    Submitted by Dennis Marshall

    Feb 2, 2017 - 03:39

Beginning March 14, college basketball fans from coast to coast will gather around screens large and small to watch their favorite teams compete in the college basketball tournament. Because tournament teams face “one-loss-and-you’re out sudden death” with each round, no one wants to miss a minute of the action. In fact, according to an article on FoxBusiness.com: The American Gaming Association says about 40 million people will fill out more than 70 million tournament brackets

Lots of “New” Ways to Grow Your Business with Cable in the New Year

Submitted by Chris Ellis

December 13, 2016 - 10:12

New—it’s a word you’ll be hearing a lot of in the next few weeks. That’s true on cable as well, with numerous “new” ways to help your business start 2017 on a winning note by reaching the right customers in the right neighborhoods.

A new year may bring new romance on FYI, with the premiere of Kiss Bang Love on January 3 at 10 p.m. (all times Eastern). Single people looking for a potential partner will “test the waters” by kissing one another blindfolded. Each episode will feature a subject meeting ten possible love matches. After the smooches and some conversations, the subject will pick two to go on romantic dates—with the potential that one will become “the real thing.”

Some people begin the new year with a new diet, but on Food Network it’s a time to learn a whole new way to cook as Worst Cooks in America returns for a new season New Year’s night at 9 p.m. That’s followed up by a new crop of aspiring junior chefs as Kids Baking Championship begins its new season the next night at 9 p.m.

On Bravo, a familiar show is getting a slightly new name for the new year: late-night series Watch What Happens Live will now be Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen when the show returns on January 3 at 11 p.m. (along with a new set and an expanded studio audience).

CMT begins 2017 with a popular drama finding a new home: Nashville starts off with a two-hour season premiere (fans got a sneak peek at the first hour this month) January 5 at 9 p.m. Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere head the cast once again, as the series picks up in the aftermath of a surprising twist.

Lifetime goes for a new twist on a classic film, with a new original movie, Beaches, debuting January 21 at 8 p.m. Stepping in to the role originally played by Bette Midler is Idina Menzel—which also means she’ll be performing a new rendition of “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Meanwhile, Nia Long will play the role originated by Barbara Hershey in the story of lifelong friends who support each other in good and bad times.

FX continues the new theme with the debut of new drama Taboo on January 10 at 10 p.m. Tom Hardy stars in the series about a presumed-dead man who returns to 1814 London after a journey to Africa. As he attempts to claim his inheritance from his father, he learns just how dangerous that legacy is.

New alliances and new dangers await the characters in USA’s Colony, as the series begins its second season on January 12 at 10 p.m. As the first season concluded, Josh Holloway’s Will and Sarah Wayne Callies’ Katie found themselves in peril as Katie’s secrets were exposed and Will went in search of their missing son.

A new champion will be crowned top dog—literally—as Hallmark Channel presents coverage of the AKC National Championship on January 23 at 6 p.m. It’s one of the world’s most renowned dog shows, with intense competition for the coveted awards.

And how about a new face for the new year? In this case, it’s a new Face Off to be precise, as the hit Syfy competition series returns for a new season January 24 at 9 p.m. This time out, 16 previous contestants are back to show that they have what it takes to be the next superstar in special effects and make-up. Among the special guests this season are directors John Landis and Marcus Nispel and producer Suzanne Todd.

On the sports front, new victories will be won, new records set and new legends forged. Take a look at this amazing amount of sports coverage coming to your customers’ televisions in January:
