  • Get Your Business in Top Shape with Sports Advertising This Summer

    Submitted by Chris Ellis

Whether it’s on the greens, the track, the hardcourt, the pitch or the diamond, sports programming attracts viewers like few other types of content. Cable has more sports action than any other media platform, and your business can take advantage of that powerful consumer interest. What’s more, with digital video advertising opportunities, you can reach the same types of local audiences on multiple screens, giving your advertising a real home-field advantage. Now, let’s run down many of

The school year is almost over, days are getting warmer, and the unofficial start to summer is within sight. That means June is close, as are nearly endless opportunities to reach prospective customers. Maybe they’re looking for a new car to cruise around town, new patio furniture, a vacation getaway—or maybe they were over-eager weekend warriors, looking for a doctor about those aches and pains. Whatever they need, they’ll be watching about four hours of TV each day on average*, and they

    Submitted by Staff

    May 10, 2017 - 09:59

Last spring, we looked at the buzz surrounding the explosive growth of scripted programming on TV and across a growing array of platforms. Some observers asked if there was “too much TV,” and whether there was enough viewer appetite for all that content. A year later, the number of scripted programs continues to grow, and now, unscripted programs are popping up in greater numbers across platforms as well. Our latest Trend Insights report updates our 2016 analysis, with an emphasis on what

“Less than Meets the Eye” Data shows that new digital streaming video services are generally proving to be additive to, rather than replacements for, traditional TV services. Consumers are mixing and matching services to give themselves even more choices. In our latest Trend Insights report, we outline some of the numbers and potential reasons behind them. We also look at what this means for advertisers as they seek to reach relevant audiences enjoying content across screens and device

Lots to Love on Cable this February

Submitted by Chris Ellis

January 10, 2017 - 11:01

As the pomp and parties of the new year fade away, we turn our attention to February and some fantastic original series and specials coming to your customers’ favorite cable networks. These are the premium programs those viewers will be watching, and we can help your business reach them.

First things first, and that means beginning on the first of the month with the second-season premiere of Syfy’s The Expanse on February 1 at 10 p.m. (all times Eastern). The series, set two centuries in the future in a galaxy in which the solar system has been colonized, chronicles the rising tensions between Earth and Mars, intertwined within a vast conspiracy. Following the season premiere is an encore of a behind-the-scenes special, with an in-depth look at the show’s set as well as interviews with the cast and crew.

Closer to home, it’s cuteness overload on February 5, as cuddly felines and canines will lead to cheers of “awwwww” from across the country. Hallmark Channel kicks things off with Kitten Bowl IV at noon. Boomer Esiason serves as the FFL (Feline Football League, of course) “commissioner,” joined by host Beth Stern and commentators John Sterling and Mary Carillo with all the cat-tastic football action.

That’s followed at 3 p.m. by the answer to the question for the ages: who let the dogs out? It’s Animal Planet, with Puppy Bowl XIII. With competitors like Alexander Hamilpup, Parfait and Puddles, it’s sure to be another memorable competition.

Both shows are great, family-friendly fun, but they’re about more than just cute kittens and puppies: they also help raise awareness about adopting shelter animals. The real winners are the featured competitors, and dogs and cats just like them, who find their forever homes and families.

Bravo introduces a new scripted drama, the intriguing Imposters, on February 7 at 10 p.m. The series follows a dangerous, and heartbreaking, con artist (Inbar Lavi) trying to stay one step ahead of several of her victims as they team up to take her down.

FX’s string of high-profile dramas continues with the February 8 premiere of Legion, which comes from some of the same creative minds behind the network’s acclaimed Fargo. Legion is based on a Marvel Comics character, a man in his 30s who has had a troubled past and finds himself institutionalized and diagnosed with schizophrenia. After escaping, his journey leads him to discover that there may be far more to the visions he’s experienced and voices he’s heard may be real.

On February 12, one of television’s top dramas storms back to the screen, as AMC’s  The Walking Dead begins the second half of its seventh season. The first half of the season began on a rough note, to put it mildly, and the scattered band of survivors looked poised to regroup to take on the maniacal Negan as the story resumes.

It will soon be checkout time for another compelling drama, as A&E’s Bates Motel begins its fifth and final season February 20 at 10 p.m. So far, the show has led us through Norman Bates’s transformation to the character we first met in Psycho, and for the final season, Rihanna joins the cast as Marion Crane, the role made famous by Janet Leigh. We all know that doesn’t end so well for her, but it will be fascinating to see how the series portrays that iconic encounter.

Food Network’s always appetizing weekend cooking show blocks will be themed around chocolate (naturally) on February 11 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and February 12 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Then, on the weekend of February 25 and 26 during the same time periods, the theme will be comfort foods.

Next, we’ll take a look at some of the live sports action coming up in February. In addition to these contests on national networks, your Comcast Spotlight team can help you reach customers with sports content on local and regional networks. We’ll lead off with college hoops action, and while you look at all of that action, don’t forget that the NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament is coming up soon. To learn more about local advertising opportunities in that high-profile event, check out this video.
